Owl Bookshop and John Richmond invite you to a reading of poems and translations.

John will read from My Proper Life, his book of original poems, and Bring Me the Sunflower, his book of translations from French, Italian, Latin, Spanish and Greek poets, and perform some of his new work, written since the publication of the two books in October 2017.  The readings will be linked by an autobiographical prose commentary.

John Richmond was born in Portsmouth, England in 1951.  He lived there and in south-east London and Bedfordshire during his childhood and youth.  He studied at Trinity College, Cambridge before becoming an English teacher in London. He later became an adviser of teachers, and later still worked in educational broadcasting in the UK and the USA. He has published books and articles on English teaching and the role of language in education.  Poetry has been a part-time occupation and a permanent preoccupation all his life.

He lives in Camden Town, north London.

My Proper Life and Bring Me the Sunflower will be on sale.
